The Big Bend Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management are sponsoring an Emergency Response Disaster Training Exercise.
The scenario: A cluster of tornadoes hits Eastbay High School. Damage to structures are severe with many casualties. First responders cannot access the campus area, and will be unable to assist for many hours. The students and staff are on their own. Student Teen CERT members will form teams to determine the situation, save as many lives as possible and to communicate their status to the Hillsborough County Fire Department.
- OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE.
The primary objective of the Exercise is to conduct a Teen Cert End Of Course Disaster Exercise. Approximately 80 Eastbay High School JROTC students will have completed the G-317 Basic CERT Training course during the Fall 2017 semester. The Exercise will provide a realistic scenario for the students to form Search and Rescue Teams, conduct Triage and treatment of victims, provide continuing support for victims and to communicate with support services for evacuation/treatment of victims.
The secondary objective of the Exercise is to provide local CERT teams the opportunity to practice their CERT skills as both Safety Officers/Training Evaluators and as stand-alone teams providing Search and Rescue, Victim Triage/Treatment, and emergency communications.
